Position Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join the University of Minnesota Epilepsy Institute. The successful candidate will help lead the technical execution of our clinical data infrastructure, playing a key role in integrating multimodal data across several institutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead data harmonization efforts and establish secure, collaborative frameworks that directly impact the future of epilepsy research.
Work Schedule: Hybrid, Monday - Friday, ~7am - ~ 5pm.
Duties/Responsibilities: Under general supervision, this candidate is expected to perform the following responsibilities with efficient execution:
Infrastructure & Database Design: (75%)
- Coordinate the development of a multi-site data infrastructure platform (including the design of database schemas and scalable architecture) in collaboration with internal and external
partners. - Coordinate the development and maintenance of automated data pipelines and analytic workflows for multimodal research data.
Data Analytics: (15%)
- Support the development of advanced statistical modeling (e.g., machine learning, and programming) and advanced mathematics to assist in analysis of multimodal data patterns.
- Coordinate the testing and analyzing of hypotheses, and interprets the results of experiments under the supervision of the principal investigator.
General Research: (10%)
- Assists in research and applies knowledge of existing and emerging data science to inform solutions across a broad array of functions and business decisions and presents findings.
QualificationsAll required qualifications must be included in the application materialsRequired Qualifications:- BA/BS Degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years;
- Experience in data science and web development utilizing applications such as AWS, Python, MATLAB, R, SQL, HTML;
- Experience in the development of the CoCANoT consortium website;
- Experience in Drupal Lite application systems for web development
Preferred Qualifications: - Ability to follow strict research protocols with utmost ethical standards;
- Ability to take initiative and keep track of duties independently, under general supervision;
- Comfortable presenting progress updates and data-sharing strategies in a collaborative, multi-institutional environment;
