Job Title: Business Analyst HR Operations & Data Analytics
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid 3/2 days/week in office, 2/3 remote)
Hours: 35-40/week (required 4 weeks unpaid vacation)
Duration: 6+ Month Contract, likely extension
Pay range: $63-$65/hr (W2), depending on experience
Interview: Could be onsite in New York, NY or remote via Teams (up to hiring manager). Likely 1-2 rounds of interviews
Position Overview
Our Government client located in New York, NY is seeking a Business Analyst HR Operations & Data Analytics to support high-priority initiatives within a large enterprise HR Operations and Analytics organization. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys combining business analysis, project coordination, process improvement, and data analysis to drive operational excellence.
Working closely with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders, you will help coordinate projects, document business processes, analyze operational data, organize information within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, and develop insights that support strategic decision-making. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives while improving collaboration, reporting, and business operations across a complex organization.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate cross-functional projects, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and timelines remain on track.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to gather business requirements and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Create and maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, action items, project trackers, status reports, and executive summaries.
- Perform end-to-end business process mapping and document current-state and future-state workflows.
- Analyze business and operational data using Excel and Power BI to generate actionable insights and support decision-making.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership using Microsoft Power BI and PowerPoint.
- Build and maintain organized document libraries using Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Manage document version control, permissions, and collaboration across Microsoft 365 platforms.
- Support process improvement initiatives by identifying operational inefficiencies and recommending practical solutions.
- Collaborate with HR, operations, and analytics teams to improve workflows and information management.
- Ensure project documentation and business artifacts are complete, organized, and aligned with organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in business analysis, project coordination, process improvement, or data analysis.
- Experience working within large, complex, or matrixed organizations.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, including:
- SharePoint
- Microsoft Teams
- OneDrive
- Excel
- Power BI
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data cleansing.
- Experience creating dashboards and visualizations in Power BI.
- Strong business process mapping experience using Microsoft Visio.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting HR, Operations, Shared Services, or Business Transformation teams.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Workday, or other ERP/HRIS platforms.
- Experience using project or task management tools.
- Experience creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
- Experience supporting enterprise process improvement initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
