Summary

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, maintain, and support enterprise-level network and VoIP infrastructure across LAN, WAN, and Internet environments. This role is responsible for network architecture, performance analysis, system reliability, and leading technical staff through troubleshooting and high-priority issue resolution. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on engineering skills, deep troubleshooting capability, and the ability to drive projects forward with minimal downtime to users.

Key Responsibilities

Network Engineering & Operations

  • Design, install, and configure network and VoIP hardware/software.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure high availability for all users.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for network performance issues and major outages.
  • Analyze network traffic and prepare capacity-planning reports.
  • Resolve complex problems involving network systems, components, and protocols.

Documentation, Processes & Compliance

  • Utilize service management tools to document incidents, requests, and project work.
  • Follow established policies for issue tracking, updates, and follow-up.
  • Participate in formal change management processes for hardware and software modifications.
  • Record worked/non-worked time accurately on a daily/weekly basis.

Architecture & Planning

  • Recommend short- and long-term network and security strategies.
  • Manage and validate data/voice network backups; support disaster recovery planning.
  • Develop and implement policies for network asset management and inventory control.
  • Evaluate and recommend purchases of network hardware and software.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work directly with internal and external clients to identify requirements and resolve network issues.
  • Provide project leadership, including the ability to re-plan or recommend termination of projects when needed.
  • Offer mentorship, guidance, and training to technical team members.
  • Maintain vendor and service provider relationships for escalations and system support.

Security & Best Practices

  • Coordinate with security teams to scan, harden, and protect systems.
  • Identify and respond to vulnerabilities, attacks, and security events.
  • Develop configuration, installation, and build specifications that follow industry standards and minimize downtime.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
