Power BI Developer (6-12 Month Contract)

Overview

We have a client seeking an experienced Power BI Developer on a contract basis to support and enhance an established Business Intelligence environment. This role is primarily hands-on and focused on Power BI development, with additional responsibility for understanding platform architecture, performance optimization, and best practices.

The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who is comfortable working in production BI environments, collaborating closely with data engineers and analytics teams, and owning Power BI deliverables end to end.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports
Design and optimize data models to ensure performance, scalability, and usability
Manage Power BI capacities, including refresh schedules, monitoring, and performance tuning
Apply Power BI development and governance best practices across the organization
Support production BI environments and troubleshoot reporting or data issues
Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure reliable data pipelines and reporting outputs

Required Experience & Skills

5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience
Strong understanding of Power BI architecture, service, and capacity management
Advanced data modeling and DAX expertise
Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure environments
Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps experience is a plus)
Ability to work independently in a contract, delivery-focused role
