Senior Plex 2E / AS400 Developer & Support Consultant

MAKO Professionals is seeking a senior-level consultant with deep experience supporting and evolving legacy enterprise applications within a Plex 2E / AS400 environment. This role will focus on maintaining critical business systems while also assisting with modernization and integration initiatives tied to broader enterprise transformation efforts.

The environment includes a combination of AS400-based technologies and modern application components, requiring someone who is comfortable working across legacy backend systems and newer integration layers.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on consultant who enjoys solving complex operational issues, supporting mission-critical systems, and contributing to long-term modernization initiatives.

• Provide day-to-day application support, incident management, troubleshooting, and break-fix resolution
• Analyze production issues and maintain stability of existing enterprise applications
• Support ongoing enhancements and system evolution initiatives
• Assist with integrating legacy applications into newer enterprise platforms and systems
• Develop and modify backend functionality within AS400-based environments
• Work across both legacy and modern application layers, including Java/JSP-based components
• Collaborate with internal teams to support business-critical operations and project initiatives
• Participate in onboarding and knowledge transfer activities to learn internal system architecture and processes
• Deliver code changes, fixes, and enhancements within established timelines
• Operate with a proactive mindset and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight

• Strong experience within Plex 2E / AS400 environments
• Experience with CA Plex / Plex 2E development and support
• Hands-on experience with AS400 technologies and legacy enterprise systems
• Strong backend development experience with:
  • RPG
  • COBOL
• Experience supporting and modifying Java and JSP applications
• Experience with production support, incident resolution, and system analysis
• Ability to work within highly customized legacy application environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to quickly learn existing business processes and system architecture
• Experience supporting enterprise modernization or integration initiatives is preferred

• Self-starter with strong ownership mentality
• Comfortable operating in environments requiring both support and development responsibilities
• Able to lead initiatives and contribute independently rather than requiring heavy direction
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Capable of becoming productive quickly after onboarding
• Experience working within manufacturing or large enterprise environments is a plus
