Role Overview
The Product Data Manager drives data integrity, configuration accuracy, and cross-functional alignment for all service-related product information. This position ensures that part records, product attributes, documentation, and service-relevant data are structured, governed, and maintained to support quoting, ordering, field service activity, and operational execution across the service group.

The role interfaces extensively with engineering, operations, purchasing, sales, and service teams to maintain clean product data lifecycles, support issue resolution, and deliver timely updates that ensure downstream systems operate correctly.

Core Responsibilities

Product Data Governance & Lifecycle Management

  • Own creation, maintenance, and revision control of part numbers, service kits, assemblies, and related metadata across ERP and PDM systems.
  • Ensure product data changes are processed accurately and distributed to relevant business units.
  • Maintain structured documentation, drawings, and specifications to support service and operational workflows.
  • Manage data inputs for new product releases and updates that affect serviceability, field maintenance, or install requirements.

Operational & Service Alignment

  • Support the scheduling and coordination mechanisms for field activities by ensuring product data tied to service tasks is current and aligned with operational plans.
  • Track incoming service requests through internal communication channels (email queues, call logs) and route product-specific issues to the appropriate technical owners.
  • Provide product data support for field technicians, contractors, and service managers needing part identification or documentation.

Commercial Data Support

  • Partner with sales to generate accurate quote data by ensuring part configurations, pricing attributes, and service BOM details are current in Business Central, E1, and STAR.
  • Validate warranty-related product data for return, replacement, and corrective action processes.
  • Maintain visibility into order progress by monitoring item configuration accuracy and supporting remediation when data-related discrepancies arise.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering to collect, interpret, and incorporate technical updates (drawings, specs, service instructions).
  • Coordinate with purchasing to validate supplier part details, lead times, and material changes impacting product data.
  • Act as a connector between service operations, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure data readiness for ongoing and upcoming projects.

Financial & Performance Insight

  • Use Excel and Microsoft 365 tools to evaluate cost structures, margins, and service-related product performance.
  • Support management by providing structured data views and basic reporting to inform decisions tied to cost accuracy, product setup, and service efficiency.

Systems & Tools

Regular use of:

  • JD Edwards (E1)
  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
  • STAR
  • SharePoint
  • Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Strong ability to manage structured data, maintain configuration accuracy, and work across multiple systems.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP or PDM environments (E1, Business Central preferred).
  • Strong Excel proficiency for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage parallel tasks, shifting priorities, and multiple data inputs.
  • Understanding of service operations, order flows, and cost-tracking concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting field service, maintenance, or installation operations.
  • Exposure to manufacturing data structures or physical security/barrier systems.
  • Familiarity with job-costing or P&L-related data analysis.
