- Manage database migrations, version control, and schema evolution across development, staging, and production environments.

- Implement and enforce data integrity, constraints, referential integrity, and validation rules.

- Set up and manage database replication, backups, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery plans.

- Collaborate with application developers, data analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless data integration and availability.

- Monitor database health, disk usage, connection pooling, and resource consumption; proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.

- Develop and maintain documentation for database architecture, data dictionaries, and operational procedures.

- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL-specific features such as *PL/pgSQL*, extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_trgm, hstore), partitioning, and JSONB handling.

- Solid understanding of *database design principles*, including normalization, denormalization, star/snowflake schemas, and indexing strategies.

- Experience with database *performance tuning* - analyzing query plans (EXPLAIN/ANALYZE), optimizing slow queries, and managing connection pooling (e.g., PgBouncer).

- Familiarity with database *migration tools* such as Flyway, Liquibase, or Alembic.

- Knowledge of *backup and recovery* strategies, including pg_dump, pg_basebackup, WAL archiving, and replication (streaming/logical).

- Comfortable working in *Linux* environments and using command-line tools for database administration.

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

## Nice to Have - ETL & Data Integration Skills

- Experience designing and building *ETL/ELT pipelines* to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into PostgreSQL.

- Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks such as *Apache Airflow, Talend, dbt, Apache NiFi, or **Informatica*.

- Knowledge of data transformation techniques including cleansing, deduplication, type casting, and incremental loading.

- Experience working with *data warehousing* concepts and integrating PostgreSQL with analytical platforms.

- Exposure to *Python or Bash scripting* for automating data workflows and database maintenance tasks.

- Understanding of *CDC (Change Data Capture)* tools and techniques (e.g., Debezium, logical decoding).

## Additional Nice to Have

- Experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Google Cloud SQL).

- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.

- Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) or message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

- Knowledge of REST API development and how databases integrate with backend services.

- PostgreSQL-related certifications or contributions to open-source PostgreSQL projects.
