RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer in Houston, TX.

Summary:
We are seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to develop next-generation automation and controls technology supporting complex, large-scale industrial operations. This role focuses on building innovative, data-driven solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and productivity in challenging environments.

Key Tasks:
* Design and develop advanced controls and automation systems
* Lead development, testing, and commissioning of control systems for industrial equipment
* Build and integrate automation networks, including communication protocols and hardware
* Perform hardware and software verification and validation
* Collaborate across engineering teams to deliver best-in-class technology

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus
* 4+ years of relevant experience
* Hands-on experience with PLC-based control systems and HMI development
* Expertise with Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley, and/or NI cRIO
* Strong background in control systems, system dynamics, signal processing, and applied mathematics
* Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, TCP/IP, CAN, Profinet)
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and system diagrams
* Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Nice to Have:
* Oil & gas, power generation, or large-scale industrial process experience
* Model-based, predictive, or advanced control system development
* Experience with safety standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61131-3, SIL)
* Programming experience (C#, C++, Python, MATLAB, Java)
* Field commissioning and startup support experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
