With over 30 years of industry experience, our consultative approach allows us to provide a higher level of guidance and insightempowering our clients to secure top IT talent that fits seamlessly into their team and culture. Position Summary
Our client, a public sector organization supporting critical transportation infrastructure, is looking for a Business Analyst to support data integration and reporting initiatives across multiple technical teams. This person will work at the intersection of business and technology, gathering requirements, documenting workflows, creating field-mapping documentation, and helping ensure data is clearly defined as it moves between enterprise systems and cloud-based platforms.

This BA will support two key workstreams: MuleSoft integration projects and data request initiatives tied to a centralized Google Cloud Platform data environment. The MuleSoft work will be the primary priority and will require strong attention to detail, comfort working with APIs and integration concepts, and the ability to partner with architects, product leaders, and business stakeholders to keep projects moving within defined timelines. The data request work will involve intake, requirements documentation, source data identification, and collaboration with data warehouse and governance teams.

The ideal candidate is a self-directed, detail-oriented BA who has experience supporting integration projects and can confidently communicate with both non-technical users and senior technical stakeholders. They will not be responsible for writing technical specifications, but they must be able to ask thoughtful questions, identify missing information, document requirements clearly, and proactively raise blockers when additional support is needed.

This is a fully remote, six-month contract with strong potential to extend. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship, and should be comfortable aligning to Mountain Time core working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business requirements gathering for MuleSoft integration projects, including stakeholder interviews, process analysis, and field-level data deep-dives
  • Produce and maintain field-mapping documents that directly link source and target data fields across integrated systems
  • Diagram integration workflows and process flows to the level of detail required by development and architecture teams
  • Track your own BA deliverables against project timelines; proactively flag delays, stakeholder access issues, or blockers before they impact development windows
  • Support data request intake: complete business requirements forms, identify source fields and business rules, and work with data warehouse and governance specialists through the sign-off process
  • Contribute to backlog reduction by moving data requests through requirements and review milestones at a steady pace
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews with non-technical business owners and translate their process descriptions into structured, field-level data requirements
  • Identify what data needs to exist in multiple systems — not just what was explicitly requested, but what is necessary for the integration to function correctly in both environments
  • Collaborate with senior architects, product owners, and developers to validate that requirements are complete and actionable before development begins
  • Support integration planning for the SAP ECC to S/4HANA upgrade, analyzing existing interfaces and defining what needs to shift
  • Contribute to work order system migration as it moves from planning into BA-active phase
  • Escalate stakeholder availability issues or timeline risks to the appropriate team lead

Minimum Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst with a direct focus on system integration projects
  • Hands-on experience as the BA on MuleSoft integration projects — this is a hard requirement; experience with comparable enterprise integration platforms (MuleSoft specifically preferred) must include:
  • Business requirements gathering for API-to-API or system-to-system integrations
  • Field-level data mapping documentation linking source and target systems
  • Workflow and process flow diagramming
  • API endpoint documentation; comfortable reading and working from API documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to interview non-technical stakeholders and distill their process descriptions into structured data requirements — including identifying dependencies they didn''t think to mention
  • Comfortable working directly with technical teams (architects, developers, data engineers) to refine requirements and resolve open questions
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, track your own deadlines, and communicate proactively when timelines are at risk
  • Experience creating documentation such as user stories alongside more formal requirements artifacts
  • Experience tracking work in a project management or work-tracking tool such as DevOps, Jira, or similar tool
  • Bachelor''s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Additional Plus

  • SAP experience (ECC and/or S/4HANA) — a genuine differentiator given active upgrade work on the horizon
  • Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) familiarity, particularly cloud-based data lake or data warehouse architecture
  • SQL skills sufficient to write or review test data queries — this is a current gap on the team and a meaningful value-add
  • Experience working in state or local government IT environments
  • Experience supporting ERP migration or upgrade projects in a BA capacity
  • Familiarity with construction-industry platforms (Trimble, Bentley, Azteca, or similar)
