IT Operations Manager

Job Title: IT Operations Manager (Service Ownership & Infrastructure) Position Summary

IT Operations Manager to take ownership of core infrastructure services. This role is responsible for the strategic management and daily operation of our technical environment, ensuring that high-performance computing, large-scale storage, and endpoint management systems are robust, secure, and integrated to support global conservation science.

Key Responsibilities

• Service Ownership & Strategy: Act as the primary for core IT functions, developing roadmaps and ensuring all lab IT services are seamlessly integrated.
• Endpoint Management: Develop and maintain standardized configurations for OS and applications using SSCCM and .
• Virtual & Server Infrastructure: Manage VMware host/guest lifecycles, including capacity planning, migration, and Windows Server administration (file, print, and database services).
• Storage Administration: Collaborate with team members to manage SAN allocation, performance metrics, and disaster recovery replication.
• Cloud & Media Integration: Serve as the technical liaison to Client Cloudification team and support specialized media archival workflows in collaboration with the Lead Media Engineer.
• Security & Compliance: Perform procedures to protect information system assets in accordance with University Policy 5.10; conduct accurate security evaluations for all systems.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 5 7 years of professional experience in systems administration or IT operations management.
• Technical Expertise:
• Advanced proficiency in VMware vSphere and Windows Server environments.
• Expertise in SCCM and JAMF for automated device management.
• Deep understanding of SAN storage and disaster recovery protocols.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills to act as a liaison between technical teams and Lab leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: ITIL Foundations, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
• Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud deployments.
• Media Knowledge: Experience with high-performance media editing and archival software.
