Sr. Information Technology Field Engineer

As a Senior Field Deployment Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the deployment and training of the VA's EHR project, working closely with a team of onsite technicians to ensure seamless equipment setup and configuration. Your technical expertise and customer service skills will be essential in delivering a high-quality experience for end-users.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Clearance: VA Public Trust clearance is required prior to starting.

Onsite Requirements:

• Daytime hours with potential for evening and weekend hours
• Ability to traverse the site campus transporting equipment to various office buildings
• Frequent stooping, crouching, and reaching to set up/remove computers and pull cords under desks and in server closets

Responsibilities:

• Deploy, image, and set up equipment (PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, scanners, and network connections) at the VA medical center campus and offsite training centers
• Assist with oversight of workload and manage inventory and network connectivity at each training site
• Ensure connectivity during all training sessions and verify each computer has the most current VA computer image
• Configure network connectivity in the training room and install computer peripherals at each training seat
• Manage and troubleshoot a wide variety of systems and networks, including high-availability systems

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience designing, analyzing, configuring, or troubleshooting IP networks
• Experience managing technical teams
• Experience with Wi-Fi hardware: configuration, management, and issue resolution
• Experience with network hardware: install, configuration, management, and issue resolution
• Ability to consistently traverse the site camptraining sites transporting equipment, and frequently stoop, crouch, and reach to set up/remove computers and pull cords under desks and in server closets
• Ability to unpack/repack, move, and install pallets of IT equipment, with items weighing up to 50 pounds, with no restrictions
• Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix support (laptops, desktops, printers), refresh, upgrade, and deployment projects, plus excellent customer service skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience writing reports and deliverables
• Familiarity with network technologies, analyzing network traffic, and diagnosing network issues
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and meet travel requirements
• Must have personal transportation available during work hours
