We are proud to employ and support military veterans who bring mission-first mindset, technical expertise, and leadership qualities that strengthen our work. Veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses are strongly encouraged to apply.
Tria Federal is seeking a Senior Data Analyst / Analytics Lead to support a high-impact Veterans Health Administration contract within Tria’s Military and Veteran Health Business Unit. This role will support data-driven decision-making across federal healthcare operations, helping translate complex data into actionable insights, performance measures, dashboards, and recommendations for government and program leadership.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled analytics professional with deep experience in SQL, Python or R, business intelligence tools, and stakeholder-facing analysis. This individual will lead complex analytic workstreams and partner with technical, operational, and government stakeholders to improve data quality, reporting, transparency, and mission outcomes.
Tria’s Military and Veteran Health business unit focuses on areas such as operational continuity, financial transparency, care coordination, revenue operations, eligibility platforms, community care, and EHR integration across VA and DHA environments. The role is especially well aligned to VA’s broader emphasis on integrated data analytics, improved data integrity, and more consistent data sharing across the department.
Responsibilities:
- Lead complex data analysis efforts supporting VHA program operations, performance management, reporting, and executive decision-making.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain advanced SQL queries, data extracts, reporting logic, and analytical data sets from large and complex data sources.
- Use Python and/or R to perform data cleaning, transformation, statistical analysis, automation, validation, and repeatable analytics workflows.
- Design and deliver dashboards, scorecards, and visual analytics using tools such as Power BI or similar BI platforms.
- Translate business questions into analytical approaches, measurable indicators, and clear findings for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Partner with government stakeholders, program managers, subject matter experts, engineers, and data teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality analytic products.
- Identify trends, anomalies, risks, operational inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement through rigorous data analysis.
- Support data quality assessment, reconciliation, validation, documentation, and governance activities.
- Prepare executive-level briefings, written summaries, visualizations, and recommendations that communicate complex findings clearly and concisely.
- Contribute to project planning, estimation, prioritization, and delivery management for analytics-related tasks and workstreams.
- Ensure analytics products are accurate, reproducible, well-documented, and aligned with client expectations, contract requirements, and applicable federal standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, analytical, technical, or related field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Public Health, Health Informatics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 8+ years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, analytics consulting, healthcare analytics, government analytics, or a related field.
- Mastery of advanced SQL, including joins, window functions, common table expressions, query optimization, data validation, and complex analytical logic.
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data manipulation, analysis, automation, and statistical or operational analytics.
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, and visual analytics in Power BI or comparable BI tools.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex, and sometimes imperfect data sets and produce clear, defensible insights.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect data findings to operational, financial, programmatic, or mission outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior stakeholders and explain analytical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to lead analytic tasks or workstreams with minimal supervision.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior analysts.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to data accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a quantitative, technical, healthcare, public policy, or business-related field.
- Experience supporting VA, VHA, DHA, CMS, or other federal healthcare programs.
- Familiarity with healthcare operations, revenue cycle, claims, eligibility, EHR, care coordination, benefits administration, or clinical/administrative healthcare data.
- Experience working in a federal consulting, government contractor, or client-service environment.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, metadata documentation, and analytics lifecycle management.
- Experience with Agile delivery, Jira, Confluence, Git, Databricks, Snowflake, cloud platforms, or modern data engineering environments.
- Familiarity with privacy, security, and compliance considerations related to federal healthcare data.
- Ability to support proposal, reporting, performance measurement, or strategic planning activities as needed.
Core Competencies:
- Analytical Leadership: Able to guide analytic direction, structure complex problems, and produce actionable results.
- Technical Excellence: Strong command of SQL, Python/R, data visualization, and repeatable analytics methods.
- Mission Orientation: Understands the importance of delivering reliable insights that support Veterans, healthcare operations, and federal mission outcomes. VHA is the largest integrated health care system in the United States, providing care to millions of enrolled Veterans through VA medical centers and outpatient clinics.
- Communication: Converts complex data into clear narratives, briefings, dashboards, and recommendations.
- Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams, government stakeholders, technical teams, and business users.
- Quality Mindset: Prioritizes accuracy, documentation, reproducibility, and stakeholder trust.
Security / Eligibility Requirements:
