In the role of Systems Engineer EIT, we'll count on you to:

Support systems engineering activities across major rail and transit projects in North America and Canada.

Assist with requirements management, interface coordination, verification & validation (V&V) and system integration tasks under guidance of senior systems engineers.

Prepare and maintain system documentation, including requirements traceability matrices, interface control documents, and test procedures.

Participate in design reviews, integration planning, and commissioning support activities.

Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes as directed.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and subsystems.

Perform site visits during design, construction, and testing phases as needed.

Demonstrate an attitude and commitment to being an active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.

Familiarity with Python

Exposure to rail or transit systems projects.

Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Cameo, Jama, etc.) and MBSE concepts.

Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Prior internship or co-op experience in systems engineering or transportation projects.

Knowledge of INCOSE systems engineering principles.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related Engineering discipline.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Hands-on experience with MicroStation, InRoads and GEOPAK-route design
• MS Office Applications experience
• Strong interest in railroad design
