Location: Full-time, on-site M-F in McLean, VA
Assignment Type: Contract Only
Duration: ~ 9 Months (possible extension)
Pay Range: $60 - $80 per hr. Specific compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Position Description:We are seeking a highly experienced Developer-Full Stack Senior (Python) to support a major enterprise data transformation initiative. This role focuses on backend Python development, modernizing data pipelines, optimizing complex SQL queries, supporting large-scale data migrations, and building scalable services that integrate across multiple systems.
You will work on high-impact data engineering and backend components, contribute to cloud-based data warehousing efforts, and ensure smooth data flows across modernized platforms.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze and convert complex SQL queries to align with new data sources.
- Support and execute large-scale data migration activities with a focus on accuracy and integrity.
- Update existing applications to integrate with new data platforms.
- Work with Snowflake for data warehousing, extraction, migration, and analytics.
- Develop and enhance backend Python services and microservices.
- Ensure smooth system-to-system data integration during transformation efforts.
Qualifications:- 7+ years of Python development experience, including microservices.
- 5+ years advanced SQL experience (complex queries, optimization, large datasets).
- Experience integrating with Snowflake APIs and/or GraphQL (1-3 years).
- Strong experience with relational databases: Sybase, SQL Server, MySQL.
- Proven ability to analyze, join, and transform large datasets from multiple sources.
- 7-10 years of IT experience in design, development, integration, and testing.
- Experience with REST/SOAP web services and enterprise integrations.
- Hands-on experience with Jira, Eclipse, Git, Bitbucket, Gradle, Docker, and Jenkins.
- 3-5 years of unit testing using Python testing frameworks.
- Experience with Django, FastAPI, and Python data libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Dask, spaCy, NLTK, scikit-learn).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to work independently and drive project objectives.
- Strong collaboration with architects, analysts, and project managers.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Experience with ETL tools and data pipeline orchestration.
- Experience working within large enterprise data environments.
