Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Engineer with advanced programming experience in C++, a strong background in Modeling and Simulation (M&S), and preferably hands-on expertise in AFSIM (Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling). This position requires a motivated professional capable of working within a collaborative environment to develop innovative solutions for complex aerospace challenges.

About the program:

You will be joining an advanced initiative aimed at enhancing missile defense capabilities by utilizing assets positioned in orbit to detect, track, and neutralize incoming threats before they reach their targets. The effort involves integrating cutting-edge sensor technologies, advanced guidance systems, and precision engagement mechanisms to address emerging threats, including ballistic and hypersonic missiles. By intercepting threats at critical points in their flight trajectory, these systems complement naval missile defense networks, providing an added layer of security to safeguard national interests and global stability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop, integrate, and validate aerospace models and simulations tailored to the Space-Based Interceptor program.
  • Design and implement high-performance, scalable software solutions using C++ to support mission-critical analysis and operational requirements.
  • Utilize AFSIM to develop simulations for operational mission scenarios and analyze the performance of space systems under various conditions.
  • Expand modeling frameworks for end-to-end engagement analysis, including kinematics, seeker performance, guidance, navigation, and control algorithms.
  • Perform system-level analyses using Modeling & Simulation tools to assess effectiveness and capabilities of the Space-Based Interceptor system.
  • Develop documentation to support design, integration, testing, and validation of simulation models and tools.
  • Contribute to systems architecture studies, performance optimization, and data analysis to inform program decisions.
  • Participate in technical reviews, stakeholder briefings, and provide recommendations/insights to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in C++ programming, emphasizing object-oriented design and software development for advanced engineering applications.
  • Proven expertise in Modeling and Simulation with a strong conceptual understanding of aerospace systems.
  • Experience supporting defense-related programs, such as missile defense, space systems, or related technology development efforts.
  • Proficiency in design, verification, and validation of software tools and systems models.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve complex program goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work independently on technically challenging problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and presentation experience.

Required Clearance:

Must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS: ship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience with AFSIM in a simulation development and analysis capacity.
  • Familiarity with space systems architecture, propulsion dynamics, orbital mechanics, and interceptor technology.
  • Knowledge of missile defense operations and associated mission planning concepts.
  • Experience working in Agile or rapid prototyping software development environments.
