*Must pass a background check once offered position* Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Technical Documentation Specialist with a strong cybersecurity focus to support the creation, maintenance, and governance of technical documentation across enterprise IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments.
This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining critical operational artifacts related to Identity and Access Management (IAM), cybersecurity logging and monitoring platforms, and security operations processes. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical writing expertise with a solid understanding of cybersecurity technologies, compliance requirements, and operational support models.
Working closely with engineers, architects, analysts, vendors, and subject matter experts, this individual will drive documentation standards, create operational playbooks and procedures, and ensure critical security knowledge is captured, maintained, and accessible across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Technical Documentation Development & Lifecycle Management - Research, create, edit, and maintain technical documentation throughout its lifecycle.
- Ensure documentation remains accurate, current, and aligned with evolving technologies and processes.
- Manage version control, updates, and publication processes.
Cybersecurity Artifact Development - Develop and maintain:
- Runbooks
- Playbooks
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Onboarding guides
- Operational support documentation
- Best practices and knowledge articles
- Capture operational processes supporting cybersecurity technologies and services.
IAM, Logging & Monitoring Documentation - Develop documentation supporting:
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Privileged Access Management (PAM)
- Logging and Monitoring platforms
- SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR solutions
- OT monitoring and incident response processes
Compliance & Audit Support - Ensure documentation aligns with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Support compliance initiatives including:
- NERC CIP
- SOX
- ISO
- Internal and external audit programs
Stakeholder Collaboration - Lead discovery sessions with subject matter experts, engineers, architects, analysts, and vendors.
- Gather technical requirements and operational knowledge necessary for document creation.
- Coordinate documentation efforts across multiple teams and business functions.
Publishing & Knowledge Management - Establish documentation storage, organization, access controls, and publishing standards.
- Support enterprise knowledge management and content governance initiatives.
AI-Enabled Documentation & Continuous Improvement - Leverage AI tools and automation capabilities to improve content creation, summarization, editing, and maintenance.
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes, quality, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications - 7-10 years of technical documentation experience within cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), or Operational Technology (OT) environments.
- Proven experience researching, developing, editing, and maintaining complex technical documentation.
- Experience creating:
- Runbooks
- Playbooks
- SOPs
- Onboarding materials
- Technical and operational system documentation
- Hands-on familiarity with:
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Logging and Monitoring platforms
- SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR technologies
- Strong understanding of documentation standards, publishing practices, and content governance.
- Experience working within regulated and compliance-driven industries.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and subject matter experts.
- Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance documentation creation and maintenance processes.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience within utility, energy, healthcare, financial services, or government environments.
- Exposure to Operational Technology (OT) or Industrial Control Systems (ICS) cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity platforms such as:
- Splunk
- CrowdStrike
- Dragos
- Industrial Defender
- Experience with content management platforms such as SharePoint and Confluence.
Preferred Certifications - Certified Authorization Professional (CAP) or similar Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) certification.
- Technical Writing Certification (e.g., Society for Technical Communication).
