About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the modernization of enterprise data infrastructure on AWS cloud. This role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for designing and implementing a multi-zone data architecture that supports scalable data integration, analytics, and reporting while improving governance and reducing operational complexity.
The Data Architect will collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analytics teams to build a modern, cloud-first data platform that supports data-driven decision making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement a multi-zone AWS data architecture including Raw/Landing, Integration, Analytical, and Reporting layers
Assess current on-premise and cloud data environments including Oracle, Redshift, PostgreSQL, and Access databases
Identify data silos, tool fragmentation, inconsistencies, and operational challenges in existing platforms
Analyze existing data flows, reporting frameworks, and metrics definitions to identify gaps and improvements
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data architecture solutions
Recommend appropriate AWS services for data ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, and reporting
Define and enforce enterprise data standards, data modeling frameworks, and governance policies
Implement data security, access controls, and compliance frameworks within AWS environments
Establish data quality and data governance frameworks ensuring consistency, reliability, and traceability
Evaluate and integrate AWS-native and third-party data tools to optimize performance and reduce vendor dependency
Develop roadmaps and migration strategies for transitioning from legacy systems to modern AWS architecture
Produce architecture documentation, technical artifacts, and executive presentations
Mentor and guide data engineers and analytics teams on best practices for data architecture and governance
Stay updated on emerging AWS technologies and data platform innovations
Required Skills & Experience
15+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Enterprise Data Platforms
5-6 years of experience in enterprise architecture and cloud modernization leadership
7-8 years of hands-on experience with data development (ETL/ELT, SQL, data modeling, pipeline development)
Proven experience architecting modern cloud-based data platforms on AWS
Hands-on experience with AWS data services
Required AWS Technologies
Amazon S3 - Data lake architecture and lifecycle management
AWS Glue - ETL/ELT orchestration
Amazon Redshift - Data warehouse architecture and performance optimization
Amazon Athena - Serverless analytics solutions
AWS Lake Formation - Data governance and access control
Amazon EMR - Distributed data processing frameworks
Additional Requirements
Experience with cloud migration and multi-database environments
Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
Experience designing enterprise-scale multi-zone data architectures (Raw, Curated, Trusted layers)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Skills
Experience with BI tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, or Looker
Exposure to DevOps practices for data pipelines
Experience with Big Data frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop
Knowledge of AI/ML data integration architectures
Experience working with cross-functional global teams
Education & Certifications
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (Preferred)
AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty (Highly Desired)
Additional certifications in Snowflake, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform are a plus
