Job Title: Sr. Principal Technologist – Cloud FinOps
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 12 months contract
Job Description:
We are looking for a Sr. Principal Technologist with strong expertise in Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) and Governance across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. This role focuses on optimizing cloud spend, improving financial accountability, and implementing governance frameworks in a multi-cloud enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute FinOps strategies to optimize cloud costs across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
- Monitor cloud usage, analyze cost patterns, and identify optimization opportunities
- Investigate and resolve cost anomalies and prevent recurrence
- Design and enforce cloud governance frameworks and best practices
- Manage cloud financial processes, including:
- Cost allocation
- Showback / chargeback
- Budgeting & forecasting
- Collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Finance, and Leadership teams
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and improve cloud resource utilization
- Provide guidance on cloud financial governance and optimization strategies
- Stay updated on FinOps trends, tools, and cloud technologies
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in Cloud FinOps / Cloud Cost Optimization
- Deep expertise in AWS and Azure (Google Cloud Platform exposure is a plus)
- Strong understanding of:
- Cloud pricing models
- Cost management strategies
- FinOps Framework
- Experience with cloud billing analysis and reporting
- Hands-on experience with FinOps / cloud cost tools (Apptio, Cloudability preferred)
- Experience in multi-cloud / large enterprise environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- FinOps Certified Practitioner certification
Ideal Candidate:
- 8–12+ years of experience in cloud / financial operations
- Proven experience implementing FinOps and governance initiatives
- Strong stakeholder communication across technical and business teams
