Job Details

Our client is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation defense attorney to join their Columbia office. The opportunity is with an established firm that has built an impressive reputation as one of the region's largest litigation and dispute management practices with several locations across North Carolina and South Carolina. Client satisfaction remains their cornerstone, achieved through tailored representation that balances trial readiness with strategic early resolution opportunities.

We are seeking a skilled litigator who will take ownership of a substantial workers' compensation caseload while collaborating with partners and associates. You will serve as a key advocate for employers across diverse industries, managing complex cases from initial claim through resolution.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage comprehensive workers' compensation defense caseload
  • Conduct thorough legal analysis of incoming and existing claims
  • Perform detailed case investigations and strategic medical record analysis
  • Handle all phases of discovery, including drafting responsive pleadings and motions
  • Conduct depositions of parties, lay witnesses, medical professionals, and expert witnesses
  • Prepare for and argue cases before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with insurance adjusters, risk managers, and corporate clients
  • Draft compelling briefs, motions, and legal arguments supporting client positions

Interested candidates must have 3+ years of workers' compensation defense experience and a proven track record of handling cases before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission. You will inherit a number of fresh cases that will require independence and self-direction in case management.
