Job Title: Junior IMAC Engineer

Thursday - Friday - Saturday - Sunday.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior IMAC Engineer to support Infrastructure Moves, Adds, and Changes (IMAC) operations within a data center environment. This role is heavily focused on Layer 1 infrastructure support, including structured cabling, hardware installations, equipment relocation, decommissioning activities, and remote hands support.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with fiber and copper cabling in data centers, strong organizational skills, and the ability to follow operational procedures in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with structured cabling certifications and data center support experience are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Installation & Deployment
- Receive, inventory, label, and prepare incoming hardware for deployment
- Install servers, network devices, and rack-mounted equipment according to rack elevation and power specifications
- Install, route, and manage copper and fiber cabling while maintaining proper cable management and airflow standards
- Perform patching, jumper installations, and rack organization activities
- Install rack accessories including blanking panels and cable management hardware
- Assist with fiber optic splicing and connectivity validation where required
IMAC Activities (Moves, Adds & Changes)
- Support relocation and reinstallation of IT infrastructure equipment and associated cabling
- Decommission systems and disconnect infrastructure safely following operational procedures
- Package and coordinate movement of equipment within facilities or across locations
- Maintain accurate inventory and asset tracking throughout all IMAC activities
Remote Hands & Data Center Support
- Provide Level 1 remote hands support including:
- Power cycling equipment
- Cable tracing
- Hardware swaps and component replacements
- Visual inspections and equipment verification
- Basic troubleshooting and connectivity checks
- Assist with tape handling, labeling, and telecom circuit testing activities
- Support shipping, receiving, and logistics coordination within the data center
Structured Cabling & Infrastructure Maintenance
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and remove structured cabling systems for both fiber and copper environments
- Ensure all cabling work follows industry and site standards
- Update patch panel documentation, cable schedules, and infrastructure records
- Maintain organized cabling pathways and proper labeling practices
Inventory, Documentation & Compliance
- Update and maintain records in ServiceNow, CMDB, and DCIM systems
- Track inventory, consumables, tools, and spare equipment
- Prepare monthly inventory and operational reports
- Support e-waste handling and disposal procedures, including secure hard drive tracking and destruction coordination
- Participate in site audits, documentation reviews, and compliance activities
Collaboration & Operational Support
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and colocation providers to support ongoing data center operations
- Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call support rotations when required
- Follow all site security, safety, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications:
- 1–5 years of experience in data center operations, IMAC support, or structured cabling environments
- Hands-on experience working with:
- Fiber optic cabling
- Copper cabling
- Layer 1 infrastructure support
- CompTIA A+ Certification is required
- Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and best practices
- Experience with ServiceNow, CMDB, or DCIM platforms
- Ability to read and follow rack elevations, patching documentation, and installation procedures
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with any two of the following certifications will be highly preferred:
- Corning Fiber Installation (CFI)
- Panduit Certification
- CommScope SYSTIMAX Certification
- TIA-942
- Additional structured cabling or data center certifications
Additional preferred experience:
- Fiber splicing and testing
- Low-voltage cabling environments
- Data center/site audit support
- Shipping & receiving coordination
- Inventory and asset management
