Senior Staff Engineer - Remote

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for a Remote position with a Leading Technology Solutions Provider. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This position is 100% remote.

As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Cloud Infrastructure Compute team, you will serve as the technical leader for the lifecycle management of a Kubernetes compute platform. This role is foundational to all features delivered in security, networking, developer experience, and efficiency. You will be responsible for ensuring the platform's reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience to enable infrastructure and product teams to deliver enhancements across multiple cloud vendors.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects
• Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers
• Deliver enhancements that drive the cost efficiency of the cloud platform
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Contribute to the multi-year strategy to evolve the Cloud Platform
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance the compute platform

Requirements:

• BS, MS or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 12+ years of relevant work experience in infrastructure
• 4+ years of expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and their infrastructure as a service offering (e.g. EC2)
• Experience setting technical direction, planning, and successfully executing on large projects spanning multiple teams
• Advanced Kubernetes expertise, including hands-on experience writing Kubernetes controllers and experience building and working with admission Webhooks
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, quality and developer experience

Desired skills:

• Proficiency in Go (Golang)
• Istio/Envoy experience

Pay range: up to $71.42 per hour
