Job Description

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct on-site installation and repair of semiconductor test equipment on location at customer locations worldwide. Complete retrofits at customer sites. Leverage skill and knowledge of company equipment (electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems, software systems, systems functionality, and diagnostics) to perform testing and troubleshooting of complex equipment to ensure proper working order: ensure procedures are followed and findings are documented. Make repairs, solves problems and/or communicates repair suggestions to customers.
  2. Isolate equipment start-up malfunctions and take corrective action.
  3. Respond to customer requests for technical service. Make recommendations to improve product reliability and serviceability. Make recommendations to the spares list.
  4. Provide technical assistance to the internal Sales Department.
  5. Develop and certify standard testing procedures.
  6. Monitor product reliability and collect data for analysis. Analyze data, submit findings and make recommendations to improve product reliability.
  7. Coordinate and participate in conference calls to facilitate escalated issues.
  8. Provide technical training and support to customers and deliver operator training. Serve as an on-site expert on questions or issues involving equipment in operation at customer facilities.
  9. Train customer personnel and OEM dealers in equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  10. Make technical presentations as required on various field service processes and equipment operations.
  11. The position is based in Austin TX and supports the primary customer in Austin, and may travel as needed to other customers within the US & International. Job may require domestic and international travel up to 50% of the time, in future.


Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor degree is required or equivalent combination of education, training and related semiconductor test equipment experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of experience as a field or technical customer service engineer/technician or systems engineer/technician is required; experience with the installation, repair, upgrading, servicing, troubleshooting, problem analysis and resolution of semiconductor test equipment is required. Progressive and demonstrated experience successfully interfacing and servicing customers on-site at their locations as a technical company representative is required. Technical knowledge and experience in an engineering or other technical/customer/product support role-with Delta Design semiconductor test equipment-is strongly preferred. Experience with VTS and/or Pyramid handlers strongly preferred.
  • Skills/Technical Requirements: Intermediate knowledge of semiconductor equipment that includes electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic systems, software and control systems, and related materials is required. Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings and detailed blueprints; use tools and mechanical fixtures. Ability to use diagnostic terminal at an intermediate to advanced level. Must have the ability to work with assigned projects that are diverse, requiring judgment in analyzing data and selecting the best correctional method. Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively interface with high-profile customers. Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Compensation: The estimated base pay range for this position is $72,000 to $88,000 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related factors. This range represents Cohu's good faith estimate of what it reasonably expects to pay for this role upon hire. This role may also be eligible for other compensation programs as determined by company policy.

Job Conditions: Domestic and international travel required, up to 50% of the time. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.

Physical Demands/Strengths: Prolonged bending, kneeling, crawling and lying down. Ability to stand for eight hours. Ability to lift, up to 25 pounds.
