Summary

Introduction

We are seeking a talented and motivated DevOps Intern to join our engineering team. In this role, you will help build, automate, deploy, and maintain scalable infrastructure and software delivery pipelines that support enterprise-class applications and services. You will work closely with Development, Quality Assurance, Security, and Operations teams to improve software quality, deployment efficiency, system reliability, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, cloud technologies, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and infrastructure as code. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to drive improvements across the software development lifecycle.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Automation & CI/CD
  • Design, implement, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Automate software build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
  • Improve deployment reliability, speed, and consistency across environments.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation.
  • Infrastructure Management
  • Deploy and manage infrastructure in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using modern automation tools.
  • Maintain development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and highly available.
  • Monitoring & Reliability
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and deployment issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and service disruptions.
  • Participate in incident response and operational support activities.

Required education

High School Diploma/GED

Preferred education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

DevOps or Platform Engineering experience

Kubernetes/OpenShift administration skills

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines

Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, Git, and Linux

Scripting experience with Python and/or Bash

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud)

Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana

Understanding of DevSecOps, security automation, and compliance controls

Experience supporting highly available, scalable enterprise applications

Familiarity with backup, recovery, data protection, and cyber-resilience solutions

OTHER RELEVANT JOB DETAILS

Supplemental 1 employees may be eligible for up to 8 paid holidays, minimum of 56 hours paid sick time and the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan. IBM offers paid family medical leave and disability benefits to eligible employees where required by applicable law.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
