Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Java Engineer for a right to hire assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in Mississauga, ON.

Responsibilities :
  • Responsible for architecting, developing, and delivering enterprise-scale full stack applications. The role requires expertise in Java, modern UI frameworks, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Drive technical direction, establish engineering standards, mentor development teams, and partner with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and control requirements.
  • Lead the design and development of full stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular/React, microservices, and APIs.
  • Define and drive architecture standards, engineering best practices, and modernization initiatives.
  • Design scalable event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
  • Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and architecture governance across multiple teams.
  • Provide technical leadership for cloud-native applications, containerization, and platform modernization efforts.
  • Drive implementation of CI/CD, automated testing, observability, resiliency, and security best practices.
  • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Architecture, Product, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to deliver strategic technology solutions.
  • Lead resolution of complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and system scalability challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with technology risk, security, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java application development.
  • Proven experience in a Lead Engineer or senior technical leadership role.
  • Strong experience designing distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Java (11+ preferred), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud
    • Angular, React, TypeScript, JavaScript
    • REST APIs, GraphQL, API Gateway
    • Microservices, DDD, CQRS, Event-Driven Architecture
    • Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS

    • AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
    • Git, Maven/Gradle, CI/CD pipelines
    • Observability tools such as Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana
    • OAuth2, JWT, secure development practices
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
  • Exposure to GenAI, Agentic AI, MCP, and AI-driven application integration.
  • Knowledge of cloud modernization and enterprise architecture frameworks.
