Project description
The IBM MQ Developer/Admin is responsible for configuring, maintaining, supporting & troubleshooting message-based integration solutions using IBM MQ and related middleware technologies. The role focuses on system-to-system integration across distributed enterprise environments including mainframe.
Responsibilities
1. Design, develop, and maintain IBM MQ-based messaging solutions including queue managers, queues, channels, and listeners, cluster environments, certificate management.
2. Manage and administer MQ components including queue managers, queues, channels, listeners, topics, and subscriptions
3. Monitor MQ environments to ensure message flow, availability, and system health, and proactively address issues
4. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for MQ incidents such as stuck messages, performance degradation, and connectivity failures
5. Expertise in Mainframe Z/OS , structure and libraries, logs troubleshooting
6. Develop and support message flows, integrations, and transformations using IBM MQ, IIB/ACE, Java, XML, and related technologies
7. Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and architecture teams to integrate MQ with downstream and upstream systems (Microsoft D365, mainframe Z/OS, clusters, distributed apps, cloud platforms)
8. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for MQ-related issues including message delays, throughput issues, and connectivity problems
Must have/ Required
1. Over five years of hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere MQ / IBM MQ
2. Knowledgeable of mainframe scripting and distributed platform e.g. Linux
3. Have knowledge of high availability on MQ & distributed platforms
4. Have knowledge of ServiceNow to log a ticket and follow up as needed
5. Comprehensive knowledge of messaging concepts, including queues, topics, channels, persistence, and transactions
6. Proficient in Java, XML, JMS, REST API's and foundational message transformation
7. Advanced troubleshooting abilities with proven expertise in analyzing MQ logs and traces
Preferred
SIEM & Security platforms (nice to have)
Has a working understanding of SIEM concepts and platforms such as Azure Sentinel and CRIBL.
Support log ingestion, troubleshooting, and collaboration with security and incidentresponse teams.
Ensure infrastructure and network telemetry supports security detection requirements.
Other responsibilities
Participate in knowledge transfer activities related to platform transitions and retirements. Maintain documentation.
Support oncall or escalation rotations as needed.
