We are looking for a Director - Data Product Owner to lead a team of Data Product Owners and establish a scalable data product management practice within a health insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop Data Product Owners, establishing clear roles, processes, standards, and accountability.
- Serve as the business–technology bridge, translating business needs into data products, capabilities, requirements, and priorities.
- Partner with health plan leaders across Claims, Membership/Eligibility, Provider/Network, Clinical, Pharmacy, Finance, Operations, and Regulatory Reporting.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Architecture, Analytics, Governance, and Platform teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
- Drive data product portfolio prioritization, balancing business value, regulatory needs, technical feasibility, dependencies, and capacity.
- Establish data product standards around ownership, lifecycle, quality, lineage, documentation, SLAs, adoption, and success metrics.
- Define decision rights and accountability across business, product, technology, data governance, and architecture teams.
- Champion a product mindset for data, moving from project/request-based delivery toward reusable, governed, consumer-focused data products.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in health insurance, healthcare, data/analytics, product management, or technology.
- Strong health plan/payer domain expertise, particularly Claims, Eligibility, Benefits, Provider/Network, Pharmacy, Clinical, and Finance.
- Experience leading Data Product Owners, Product Managers, Business Analysts, or similar teams.
- Strong understanding of modern data platforms, data warehouses/lakes, APIs, analytics, data governance, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive decisions in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Experience building or maturing data/product management practices in evolving organizations.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, coaching, and executive presentation skills.
