About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Senior Developer to work on our auto insurance pricing platform, a sophisticated Spring Boot application that integrates with external APIs (like Earnix) to calculate policy premiums and manage complex factor-based pricing logic. You'll work with AWS cloud infrastructure and manage large-scale data operations.
Key Responsibilities
•       Design and implement scalable solutions for policy premium calculations and rate and risk management
•       Develop and maintain Spring Boot microservices that handle external API integrations
•       Build robust data models and mapping layers for insurance pricing factors
•       Implement complex business logic for discount calculations, surcharges, and tier-based pricing
•       Architect and optimize AWS infrastructure solutions including Document DB, Aurora DB, S3, and Lambda functions
•       Design and implement Kafka-based event streaming for rate models
•       Implement multi-threaded and parallel processing solutions to optimize performance at scale
•       Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews
•       Optimize performance for data-heavy operations involving hundreds of pricing variables and cloud-based data storage
•       Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to architectural patterns
Required Qualifications
•       7+ years of Java development experience
•       5+ years working with Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem
•       3+ years of hands-on AWS experience (DocumentDB, Aurora DB, S3, Lambda)
•       Strong understanding of multi-threading, concurrency patterns, and parallel processing
•       Strong understanding of REST APIs and external system integrations
•       Experience working with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures
•       Experience with Gradle build systems
•       Proficiency in object-oriented design and design patterns
•       Background in financial, insurance, or high-complexity domain applications
•       Git version control expertise
Nice-to-Have Skills
•       Python scripting for AWS tooling or automation
•       JavaScript for full-stack contributions
•       Experience with data transformation and mapping frameworks
•       Knowledge of insurance or pricing domain concepts
•       AWS certification (Solutions Architect or Developer Associate)
•       Experience with Kafka Streams or Spring Cloud Stream
