Hybrid 4 in either Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL

Our client seeks a Vice President, Application Support Engineer to strengthen production support for a Depositary Receipts platform. The role will diagnose and resolve complex incidents, drive root cause analysis, and improve reliability through automation and performance tuning. The engineer will collaborate with development and infrastructure teams, apply DevOps and SRE practices, and enhance customer experience by removing friction across the technology ecosystem.

Rate: $75.00 to $85.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a production environment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent fixes.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and stakeholder teams to resolve complex issues and implement changes.
  • Monitor application and database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform routine maintenance to ensure stability.
  • Create and maintain troubleshooting documentation, knowledge articles, and incident reports.
  • Communicate clearly with teams and stakeholders using strong written and verbal communication.
  • Analyze logs, code, and database performance metrics with attention to detail.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and technologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leverage prior production support experience with Java-based applications and SQL Server databases.
  • Identify automation opportunities and implement scripts or tools to improve efficiency.
  • Improve and protect software and systems for scalability, availability, latency, performance, security, and capacity.
  • Continuously improve operational support to enable customer experience and product innovation, resolving end-to-end friction points.
  • Understand the technical ecosystem, recognize systemic interrelationships, and identify gaps.
  • Use DevOps-centric automation tools and technologies for CI/CD and scale systems through automation and evolution.

Experience Requirements:
  • 8 to 10 years of related experience; financial services or securities industry experience is a plus.
  • Technical engineering background with coding experience beyond simple scripts.
  • Experience with Java, Angular, Kafka, and SQL.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, and software development.
  • Familiarity with Amazon S3, AWS, Ansible, Docker, Linux, Microsoft Azure, Python, Splunk, AppDynamics, and AI.
  • In-depth SQL Server analysis including query tuning, deadlock identification, execution plan analysis, and debugging stored procedures and functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret Java code, including OOP concepts, exception handling, and basic debugging.
  • Familiarity with job scheduling and configuration comprehension.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and application servers such as Tomcat.
  • Experience with monitoring tools to identify and track errors and partner with engineering for solutions.
  • Engagement with AI technology, self-starter in configuring AI agents, and familiarity with in-depth prompts in Co-Pilot.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
