Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Consultant with deep expertise in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) to join our team onsite at a client distribution center in Las Vegas, NV. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience building and enhancing EWM solutions, migrating from legacy warehouse systems including Fortner, and driving operational improvements in high-volume DC environments. This is a client-facing, floor-level engagement requiring both technical depth and the ability to collaborate directly with warehouse operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

EWM Development & Warehouse Solutions

Design and develop custom SAP EWM solutions including RF applications, warehouse task management, Transfer Order logic, and bin/stock optimization.

Build and enhance EWM-specific ABAP programs for inbound/outbound processing, putaway, replenishment, pick-pack-ship, and load management.

Develop screen handling, menu flows, and transaction navigation for RF handheld devices used on the DC floor.

Implement warehouse process automation to replace manual or legacy system-driven workflows.

Design and deliver solutions for pallet identification, container building, and document output (Master Waybill, Bill of Lading, labels).

Fortner Legacy Systems Integration

Assess and document existing Fortner WMS (legacy) processes and data structures at the distribution center.

Design migration/integration strategies to bridge or replace Fortner functionality within SAP EWM.

Build custom interfaces (BAPIs, IDocs, REST/SOAP) to integrate or sunset Fortner system touchpoints.

Support data migration from Fortner to SAP EWM including validation, reconciliation, and cutover planning.

S/4HANA & Technical Development

Develop and optimize ABAP on HANA programs, CDS Views, and AMDP for warehouse reporting and analytics.

Create and expose OData services supporting EWM Fiori/UI5 apps for operational dashboards and transactions.

Build and extend Fiori Elements and freestyle UI5 applications using SAP BAS for DC operations teams.

Support AIF-based interfaces for document flow, exception handling, and audit tracking.

Conduct WRICEF object development, ATC checks, code reviews, and transport coordination.

Onsite Collaboration & Support

Work directly on the distribution center floor with warehouse supervisors, ops staff, and business analysts to gather requirements and validate solutions.

Provide production support, defect resolution, and performance optimization for live DC systems.

Lead technical design sessions and contribute to solution architecture decisions.

Participate in Agile/SCRUM ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and sprint reviews.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of SAP ABAP development experience (Classical & OO ABAP).

4+ years hands-on SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) development.EWM is mandatory -

highly preferred.Fortner WMS or other legacy WMS (AS/400-based or similar) experience is

Strong background in RF application development using LM00-based menu flows and handheld device processing.

Proficiency in Transfer Order creation/confirmation, bin management, pallet handling, and replenishment logic.

Experience with SAP S/4HANA (Private or Public Cloud), ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, and AMDP.

Solid skills in OData (REST/SOAP), IDocs, BAPIs, ALE, and web service integration.

Fiori/UI5 development experience using SAP BAS or SAP Web IDE.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced distribution center environment.

US work authorization required; ability to work onsite in Las Vegas, NV.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in retail, distribution, or logistics industry SAP implementations.

Experience migrating from SAP Classic WM to EWM.

Familiarity with SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite (CPI), and cloud-based extensions.

Experience with BRIM, SD, MM, and FI module integrations in a distribution context.

SAP certification in EWM or S/4HANA.
