Job Summary

IRG Clients is seeking an experienced IBM Middleware Operations Manager to lead enterprise production operations, middleware support, and operational excellence initiatives for a large-scale healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing IBM middleware technologies, production support, incident management, and operational governance while ensuring high availability, reliability, and continuous service improvement.

This role requires strong leadership skills, expertise in IBM middleware platforms, and experience managing critical production environments with a focus on incident response, service reliability, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Lead day-to-day production operations for IBM middleware platforms, ensuring maximum system availability and operational stability.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies to improve service reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor production environments proactively and ensure rapid response to operational events.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Lead triage and resolution of Severity 1, 2, 3, and 4 production incidents.
  • Coordinate incident response across technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring issues.
  • Manage incident tracking and reporting using ServiceNow and Jira.

Middleware & Production Support

  • Support and manage IBM DataPower, IBM MQ, and IBM Managed File Transfer (MFT) environments.
  • Oversee middleware infrastructure health, performance, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure successful execution of production deployments and operational readiness activities.
  • Coordinate production release support and post-deployment validation.

EDI & Batch Operations

  • Manage enterprise Managed File Transfer (MFT) operations.
  • Oversee EDI X12 transaction processing and operational support.
  • Monitor batch processing jobs and ensure successful execution and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to maintain reliable data exchange processes.

Monitoring & Operational Excellence

  • Utilize Splunk and enterprise monitoring tools for proactive system monitoring.
  • Establish operational dashboards, KPIs, and service metrics.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operational documentation, and production runbooks.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage production support teams.
  • Perform resource planning, workload management, and performance coaching.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, infrastructure teams, application development teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide executive-level operational status reporting and escalation management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in Production Support, Middleware Operations, or IT Operations.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting IBM middleware technologies, including DataPower, IBM MQ, and MFT.
  • Strong experience managing enterprise production environments.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, Splunk, SQL, and EDI X12 transactions.
  • Proven experience managing critical production incidents and major outage response.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes, incident management, problem management, and change management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
