Role Overview

ZAPCOM is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to support a client engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience building scalable backend services, developing REST APIs, and delivering reliable applications in a distributed environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build RESTful APIs and microservices that support business and product requirements.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, and QA to deliver features.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and service reliability.
• Implement unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues and identify root causes.
• Contribute to system design, technical documentation, and engineering improvements.
• Work closely with teams operating in Pacific Time.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience, with strong expertise in Java backend development.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring Framework.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL databases, data modeling, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, data structures, and design patterns.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging platforms.
• Experience with Redis or similar caching solutions.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, and logging tools.
• Experience supporting high-volume, customer-facing applications.
