Mainframe IMS Application DBA (Only W2 Candidate local to AZ )

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe IMS Application DBA / IMS DBA Analyst to support and manage mission-critical IMS database environments running on IBM z/OS. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IMS DB administration, performance tuning, database recovery, physical database design, and troubleshooting in large-scale enterprise environments.

This position requires candidates to work onsite 3 days per week in the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area. Local candidates are preferred, but candidates willing to relocate will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support IMS DB environments on IBM z/OS.
• Administer Full Function, Fast Path, and HALDB databases.
• Perform database definition, allocation, dataset management, REORG, and space management.
• Manage and maintain DBD, PSB, ACB libraries, and IMS Catalog.
• Execute IMS database utilities, including:
  • Load/Unload
  • Reorganization
  • Image Copy
  • Recovery utilities such as DFSURGL0 and DFSUICP0
• Perform Image Copy and Point-in-Time (PIT) recovery.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot:
  • Access path issues
  • Space constraints
  • Database abends
  • Data corruption and integrity issues
  • Application-related database problems
• Support database performance tuning and optimization.
• Collaborate with application development teams on DL/I access and database design.
• Work closely with IMS System Programmers and Operations teams on performance, batch, and online processing.
• Design technical solutions aligned with business and application requirements.
• Provide independent application development and database support.
• Create technical documentation, process flows, and procedural documentation.
• Participate in complex database projects, enhancements, maintenance, and infrastructure initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on IMS DBA experience in an IBM z/OS environment.
• Strong experience with IMS DB administration and application support.
• Experience working with Sysplexed Data Sharing environments.
