SUMMARY The SAP S/4HANA MM Functional Consultant is responsible for the end-to-end functional design, configuration, and support of Materials Management processes within an SAP S/4HANA RISE Private Cloud environment. Operating within the SAP Center of Excellence, this role bridges procurement, inventory, and planning business requirements with SAP MM capabilities to support efficient sourcing, inventory control, and material valuation.
Using the SAP Activate methodology, the consultant leads fit-gap analysis, functional configuration, and testing activities across implementations and enhancements. The role supports both project delivery and steady-state operations, including incident resolution, change management, and continuous improvement aligned with ITIL service management practices. Strong collaboration with FI, SD, EWM, Demand Planning, and Master Data teams is required to ensure accurate and integrated supply chain execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Analyze and document Procure-to-Pay, Inventory Management, and planning-related business processes and identify optimization opportunities using SAP MM best practices
- Gather, validate, and prioritize functional requirements related to purchasing, inventory control, valuation, and demand planning
- Configure SAP S/4HANA MM in a RISE Private Cloud environment, including:
- Purchasing organization structures, purchasing groups, and document types
- Purchase requisitions, purchase orders, outline agreements, and vendor master integration
- Inventory Management processes including goods receipts, goods issues, transfers, and physical inventory
- Special stock scenarios such as consignment, subcontracting, and stock in transit
- Material valuation, moving average and standard price control, and integration with FI
- Support Material Master Data configuration and governance, including material types, views, units of measure, and lifecycle controls
- Collaborate with planning teams to support demand planning and material requirements processes, including integration with MRP and downstream execution
- Perform fit-gap analysis and produce functional design documents aligned to SAP Activate deliverables
- Support end-to-end integration with FI, SD, EWM, and Planning, including inventory valuation, account determination, and availability impacts
- Develop functional specifications for RICEFW objects and collaborate with ABAP and integration teams
- Execute unit testing and support SIT and UAT cycles, including defect triage and resolution
- Provide post-go-live L2 and L3 functional support, including incident management, root cause analysis, and recurring issue remediation
- Support period-end inventory close activities, including reconciliation and valuation validation
- Maintain accurate configuration, functional design, and process documentation in alignment with ITIL standards
- Deliver end-user training and support procurement, planning, and inventory user enablement
- Participate in release management, transport coordination, and change control processes
- Collaborate with COE, PMO, and technical teams to support project planning, execution, and governance
- Monitor SAP S/4HANA MM and supply chain roadmap updates to recommend functional enhancements
- Ensure compliance with procurement controls, inventory accuracy, data integrity, and audit requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot SAP Vistex issues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on SAP MM functional experience, including configuration and production support
- Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory management, and material valuation processes
- Experience working with SAP S/4HANA MM in an integrated environment
- Experience supporting material master data management and governance
- Working knowledge of demand planning and MRP integration
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional designs and system configuration
- Experience producing functional specifications and supporting RICEFW developments
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience with SAP Activate methodology and ITIL-based support models
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SAP MM or S/4HANA certification
- Experience with S/4HANA RISE Private Cloud environments
- Exposure to advanced inventory or planning scenarios
- Experience with SAP Cloud ALM or Solution Manager
- Background in distribution, manufacturing, or high-volume inventory environments
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery models
