Software Engineer

Enterprise Identity is responsible for all Authorization, Authentication, Single Sign On, and security features for American Express applications internally and externally. The organization is currently going through several modernizations that will allow American Express to better recognize the user, this will minimize identity authentication and authorization steps. The Frameworks team for Enterprise Identity is looking to add to their engineering team due to the amount of execution work that needs to be accomplished this year. This Engineer will partake in software design reviews, create software flow and sequence diagrams, conduct code reviews, and aid in mentorship of 5 or 6 junior engineers as well as other engineers as needed. The ideal candidate is someone who can get ramped up very quickly with little hand holding, and knows what questions to ask to get answers. They should have experience creating POC's, researching new best software decisions and making recommendations on best practices and how to move forward. This is Engineering at an advanced level and they must have expertise in Java, Spring boot, Spring core, Spring data, microservices, design patterns, architectural design principals such as SOLID, and relational and NoSQL databases. They should have a general understanding of authorizations and JWT tokens. As part of an Agile Scrum team, the Engineer will partake in scrum meetings, being assigned user stories, and working on new development as well as testing and improving existing code. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about code quality, learning continuously new technologies and knows what questions to ask to get answers. Their fundamental experience should be backend engineering with an advanced knowledge of Java, Spring, both relational and NoSQL databases, as well as design patterns and design principles. They should also have a general understanding of authorizations and JWT tokens.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $68.00/hr.
