Apprentice Mechanic Location: Kingston, ON Full-Time
Pay Range: $36. 53 - $41.09
The Apprentice Mechanic is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, inspection, and servicing of the various types of vehicles operated by Coach Canada. This role supports the Maintenance team in ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with applicable Ministry of Transportation requirements, company standards, and safety regulations.
Coach Canada is seeking hardworking, dependable, and motivated individuals who are looking to begin their 310T Truck and Coach Technician Apprenticeship. This is an excellent opportunity to build a career in the transportation industry while gaining valuable hands-on experience and technical development.
Apprentice Mechanic Qualifications - Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid work ethic
- Ability to assess problems, identify issues, and use sound judgment to support effective solutions that meet required standards
- Willingness and ability to enroll in and successfully complete the 310T Apprenticeship Program
- Ability to cross the border freely, without restrictions, to assist with travel-related maintenance work as required
- Valid GZ licence required; BZ licence considered an asset
- Previous coach and bus mechanic experience considered an asset
- Experience with the repair and servicing of diesel equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Must be willing to participate in the company's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, including inclusion in the DOT-compliant testing pool, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements
Apprentice Mechanic Responsibilities - Assist with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of Coach Canada vehicles in accordance with legislative and company requirements
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable motor vehicle legislation, safety regulations, WHMIS, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and repair documentation
- Support the diagnosis of vehicle malfunctions and identification of deficiencies in vehicle components, performance, repair quality, service work, or preventative maintenance
- Prioritize work effectively and support the team in meeting required deadlines
- Attend and successfully complete required training courses, including computer systems, maintenance-related training, first aid, WHMIS, and other company-required programs
- Use company systems and technology, including Samsara and Saucon
