Palo Alto Sr. Firewall Operations Engineer - Hybrid

Position Overview
This individual will support day-to-day firewall operations across an enterprise network. They will serve as one of two operational leads and work closely with additional team members. The role is focused on day-two operations, firewall policy implementation, troubleshooting, and outage response rather than firewall architecture or design. Palo Alto experience is helpful, but deep product expertise and advanced Palo Alto certifications are not required. Strong networking knowledge, technical troubleshooting ability, and the ability to learn are the primary qualifications.

Responsibilities
Review and implement firewall policy changes across the enterprise network.
Support day-to-day firewall operations and policy tuning.
Troubleshoot network and firewall-related issues.
Respond to outages and participate in SRB calls when needed.
Help oversee ongoing firewall operations as one of two operational leads.
Coordinate with team members in Mexico and India on policy implementation and other support activities.
Work independently and take ownership of operational issues through resolution.
Participate in on-call support, which may occasionally require availability during evenings or early mornings.

Requirements
Strong networking knowledge and fundamentals.
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience supporting day-to-day network or firewall operations.
Ability to respond effectively during outages and other high-priority incidents.
Ability to learn new technologies and processes.
Self-starter who can work independently in a key operational role.
Ability to collaborate with a geographically distributed team.
Ability to work onsite 2-3 days per week in Plano TX.
Ability to work after-hours support when needed.

Nice to haves
Experience working in a Palo Alto firewall environment.
Experience reviewing, implementing, or tuning firewall policies.
Familiarity with AlgoSec or a similar firewall policy automation platform.
Prior experience in automotive, manufacturing, or another large multi-site enterprise with OT/IT convergence.

Additional Information
This position is focused on firewall operations rather than architecture or design.
Advanced L3 Palo Alto product expertise is not required.
Palo Alto certifications are not required.
The team includes 2 operational leads, 1 nearshore team member, and 3-4 offshore team members.
