Senior Data Analyst with ETL expertise

UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst with ETL expertise for a hybrid role in Brooklyn, NY to work with the Information Technology (IT) Division. UNIVERSAL Technologies reserves the right to hire the candidate(s) as an employee, at no additional cost, after a period of six (6) months. The Senior Data Analyst will primarily be responsible for detailed field level analysis, metadata analysis, profiling, and mapping of VSAM files into relational/dimensional SQL tables as well as conversion/validation efforts as part of an enterprise-wide Legacy Replacement program.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of five (5) years of source-to-target data mapping experience within mixed Mainframe and relational database environments.
• Experience creating data dictionary documentation including business terms, valid values, and definitions.
• Experience converting and migrating VSAM data into relational and dimensional SQL databases.
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience developing ETL applications using IBM DataStage.
• Experience extracting field references and calculated data from COBOL programs.
• Experience extracting business rules from existing legacy code.
• Experience with BMC Control-M workload automation software.
• Experience with GIT version control software.
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience working with Pension Administration systems.
• Prior experience working within a pension system, preferably a New York State or New York City pension environment.
• Strong SQL knowledge, including complex queries and stored procedures.
• Experience developing complex SQL data validations based on Source-to-Target Mapping documents (STTMs) and target data models.
• Proficiency in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report development.
• Experience with Data Quality and Data Profiling tools.
• Experience working with Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
• Proficiency working in IBM Mainframe, Windows Server, and SQL Server environments.
• Proficiency with mainframe applications and technologies including COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
• Strong understanding of data structures and their relationship to ETL applications.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to receive and analyze requirements and propose appropriate solutions that align with established team methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and information-gathering skills.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

• Provide technical expertise supporting Data Profiling, Data Cleansing, Data Conversion, Data Migration, and Data Validation efforts for an enterprise-wide Legacy Replacement initiative.
• Perform detailed field-level analysis, metadata analysis, profiling, and mapping of VSAM files into relational and dimensional SQL tables.
• Participate in the identification, inventory, and classification of critical organizational data.
• Work with data Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to document data quality rules and definitions.
• Participate in the optimization and performance tuning of existing ETL and SQL processes.
• Extract business rules from existing legacy code and create Source-to-Target mappings.
• Transform business rules and data quality rules into ETL and/or SQL technical specifications.
• Develop complex SQL data validations based on STTMs and target data models.
• Provide technical and analytical support for data integrity and data quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with SMEs and technical leads to identify and address data quality gaps.
• Work with IT partners to remediate identified data quality gaps using manual and automated solutions.
• Support processes designed to proactively detect, correct, and prevent invalid data values.
• Perform data conversion and validation activities supporting migration from legacy environments.
• Support defect handling, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
• Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives related to enterprise data management.
