Interview Note: Candidates must use two cameras during the virtual interview-one positioned directly in front of the candidate and a second camera positioned behind the candidate.

Job Description

We are looking for a strong Python Backend Developer within the Finance & Accounting organization. The project focuses on building and enhancing adjustment automation within an existing financial system.

This is a 100% backend Python development role, but it is not limited to writing code. The developer will work closely with finance and capital users, understand business requirements, evaluate existing system patterns, participate in proof-of-concepts (POCs), and explain technical recommendations and solutions to business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and enhance backend applications using Python for finance and accounting-related automation.

Work within an existing system and leverage established software design patterns and architecture where appropriate.

Understand business requirements from Finance & Accounting and Capital users and translate them into technical solutions.

Participate in requirement discussions, provide technical feedback, and conduct POCs when needed.

Communicate technical decisions, recommendations, and limitations clearly to business users.

Perform some business/analyst responsibilities in addition to software development, as the team does not have a dedicated analyst function.

Work with deterministic calculations and financial adjustments; no financial modeling or model development is required.

Develop and maintain backend services and applications using the existing infrastructure.

Write unit tests and follow established development and testing practices.

Work with SQL Server and support database-related development.

Participate in CI/CD and version-control processes using Jenkins, Flyway, and Git.

Manage development tasks and requirements through Jira.

Top Skills / Must-Haves

Strong Python development experience This is a 100% Python backend development role.

Software design & architecture Strong understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and existing application architecture.

Finance/Accounting domain knowledge Experience or education in areas such as:

o Financial accounting

o Financial instruments

o Financial analysis

o Portfolio management

o Risk management

o Capital planning

Business-facing communication Ability to work directly with finance/business users, understand their requirements, ask the right questions, and clearly explain technical decisions.

Backend development experience Experience building and enhancing backend applications in an enterprise environment.

SQL Server Strong database/SQL experience.

Unit testing Experience with Pytest and/or Unittest.

CI/CD & development tools Experience with Jenkins, Flyway, Git, and Jira.
