ASSYST is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer / Data Integration Specialist to join our client''s Agile development team in Austin, Texas (Hybrid Role).
The Data Engineer will support the Performance Management & Analytics System (PMAS)and will play a critical role in the Design, Development, and Implementation (DD&I) of the data integration hub. This includes automating data acquisition, building complex data pipelines, optimizing SQL models, and providing operational support using Agile methodologies.
The program will only allow candidates who are LOCAL TO THE AUSTIN AREA ONLY.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and automate workflows using Informatica Power Center and IICS to pull, transform, and integrate data from varied sources (Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, Adobe PDF) into a unified dimensional model.
- Write complex, high-performance SQL scripts. Create and maintain database views and materialized views in Oracle and Snowflake to support Tableau data visualization tools.
- Work closely with Architects and the Data Engineering Team to design optimal data structures, validation scripts, and data acquisition strategies.
- Verify, validate, and conduct performance tuning on SQL scripts, database views, and Informatica automation.
- Build automated testing tools and scripts to facilitate integration, load, and stress testing.
- Provide ongoing operations support, troubleshooting, and continuous enhancements for the data integration hub.
- Actively participate in all Sprint ceremonies, including creating Epics, User Stories, and Tasks in JIRA.
- Interpret shifting business requirements, evaluate impact, and propose system enhancements. Develop mockups to validate requirements with business customers.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive technical specifications, data mapping documents, and architectural diagrams (using Visio, Erwin, etc.).
Minimum Requirements:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ Years of experience automating ETL processes, developing mappings, and workflows using Informatica Power Center or IICS.
- 8+ Years of experience integrating diverse data sources (Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, Adobe PDF) via Informatica for downstream Tableau visualization.
- 8+ Years of experience writing complex, highly optimized, and fast Snowflake SQL scripts.
- 8+ Years of experience acting as a System Analyst for data warehousing, data analytics, or performance management projects.
- 8+ Years of proficiency with technical writing and data modeling/mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Erwin, MS Office Suite, MS Project).
- 8+ Years of experience planning and delivering software platforms deployed across multiple products and organizational units.
- 8+ Years of proven track record writing clean, testable, and efficient code adhering to software development best practices.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 6 Years: Strong communication skills and a proven ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- 4 Years: Experience working on an Agile sprint team utilizing JIRA.
- 4 Years: Background in the Healthcare Industry (ideally with an HHS agency), with a solid understanding of healthcare data security principles, including PII and PHI data handling.
- 4 Years: Professional experience designing and developing scripts using Python.
- 2 Years: Functional or hands-on design experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP).
- 2 Years: Software development experience utilizing Java and JavaScript.
- 2 Years: Experience building modern CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Git Actions.
- 2 Years: Hands-on experience as a Mulesoft developer.
- 2 Years: Experience leveraging cutting-edge AI data tools such as Snowflake Cortex/Intelligence and/or Informatica Claire.
