Job Description:
Lead Cloud Data Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Cloud Data Engineer to play a key role in the evolution of a large-scale cloud data platform supporting enterprise analytics, operational intelligence, and emerging AI-driven capabilities. This position offers a blend of hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and architecture ownership within a complex, highly regulated environment.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cloud data engineering, modern data architecture, and platform modernization initiatives. This individual will be expected to lead technical efforts independently, influence architectural direction, and mentor engineering teams.
What You'll Do
  • Architect, build, and optimize scalable cloud-native data solutions that support ingestion, transformation, governance, and delivery of enterprise data.
  • Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines integrating data from a variety of sources, including databases, APIs, and streaming platforms.
  • Lead implementation of modern data architecture practices, including domain-oriented data ownership, reusable data products, and self-service data capabilities.
  • Establish and improve data quality, governance, metadata management, lineage, observability, and security controls across the platform.
  • Drive DevSecOps best practices through CI/CD automation, infrastructure-as-code, security validation, and resilient deployment strategies.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-enabled engineering solutions, including intelligent automation, retrieval-based architectures, and generative AI capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, mentoring, production support, and engineering standards development.
Required Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Cloud Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale AWS data platforms (e.g., S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis).
  • Expertise developing ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration solutions, and large-scale data processing frameworks.
  • Experience implementing distributed or domain-oriented data architectures, including Data Mesh principles.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data quality, metadata management, lineage, governance, and performance optimization.
  • Experience working with modern lakehouse and analytics technologies (e.g., Databricks, Delta Lake, or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance, cataloging, and federated data access solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and CI/CD practices (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
  • Experience with containerized and cloud-native deployment models (e.g., Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
  • Experience leveraging generative AI technologies within engineering workflows (e.g., Amazon Bedrock, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar tools).
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex initiatives and mentor engineering teams with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting enterprise data modernization efforts.
  • Background in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience operating within highly regulated or security-focused cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of intelligent workflow automation, AI platform integration, or agent-based AI solutions.
  • Experience designing reusable frameworks and self-service capabilities for data consumers and domain teams.
