Job Details

This position is with a growing software company in Phoenix that is building out its cloud engineering team and looking for a full time AWS DevOps Engineer. They're modernizing their infrastructure and moving toward a full automated, scalable setup using tools like Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and a mix of serverless AWS services. It's a hands on role where you'd get to own CI/CD pipelines, streamline deployments, and really shape how their cloud environments run.
This is a great spot for someone who loves variety, collaboration, and seeing their work make an impact. The team moves quickly, values new ideas, and gives a lot of autonomy to their engineers. You'd be part of a tight knit group that's modernizing systems from the ground up. If you enjoy solving real infrastructure challenges and want to grow in a place that invests in both people and tech this role is for you.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years working in cloud engineering or DevOps, 4+ years specifically in AWS
  • Strong Terraform experience and proven IaC design patterns
  • Hands-on experience with container tech (Docker) and orchestration (EKS preferred, ECS ok)
  • Experience building CI/CD using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
  • Solid automation scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go)
  • Good understanding of networking, VPCs, LB, NAT, security groups, and IAM best practices
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
  • Comfort owning incidents and driving reliability work across teams
  • Excellent communication - you'll explain technical tradeoffs to PMs and engineers
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with edge devices or IoT deployments in production
  • Background in Kubernetes operators, custom controllers, or Helm charts
  • Knowledge of database operations (RDS, Aurora, Redis) and migrations
  • Experience with cost optimization tools and reserved/spot strategies
  • Exposure to SRE practices and implementing SLO-driven work
  • Prior startup experience or work in small, cross-functional teams
What You Will Be Doing
Tech Breakdown
  • 40% AWS Infrastructure & IaC (Terraform, VPCs, RDS)
  • 25% CI/CD and release automation (GitHub Actions / GitLab)
  • 15% Kubernetes / container orchestration (EKS)
  • 10% Monitoring, logging, incident response (CloudWatch, Prometheus)
  • 10% Dev tooling, scripts, and cross-team collaboration
Daily Responsibilities
