Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Port Engineer to oversee the technical and engineering functions of a fleet of commercial tankers. This shore-based role offers a critical opportunity to ensure vessel reliability, compliance with regulations, and optimal maintenance and repair activities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong marine engineering background, particularly in tankers or similar oceangoing vessels, and possess comprehensive knowledge of vessel machinery, maintenance systems, and shipyard operations. This position plays a vital role in coordinating between vessel crews, vendors, and management to maintain fleet operational readiness and safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical oversight and engineering support for assigned tanker vessels.
  • Monitor vessel condition, machinery performance, maintenance needs, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineers and vessel personnel to troubleshoot mechanical and engineering issues.
  • Review and manage planned maintenance programs, repair schedules, and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate vessel repairs, drydockings, and shipyard projects effectively.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, service technicians, and technical resource providers.
  • Track repair, maintenance costs, and contribute to vessel operating and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Ensure vessels adhere to USCG, ABS, class, environmental, and other regulatory standards.
  • Review technical reports, identify machinery deficiencies, inspections findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, surveys, and vessel certifications.
  • Provide technical guidance during operational issues and equipment failures.
  • Travel to vessels, ports, and shipyards as necessary to facilitate maintenance and compliance efforts.

Requirements:
  • Extensive marine engineering experience on tankers, oceangoing vessels, or similar commercial ships.
  • Previous roles such as Chief Engineer, First Assistant Engineer, Port Engineer, Technical Superintendent, or Technical Manager are highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, electrical systems, and maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with planned maintenance systems, drydock projects, and shipyard operations.
  • In-depth understanding of USCG, ABS/class standards, and maritime regulatory requirements.
  • Tanker-specific experience is strongly preferred.
  • USCG engineering license or equivalent maritime engineering credentials are preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, planning, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to travel to vessels, ports, and shipyards as needed.
