Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Scientist - Onsite for a contract position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in South San Francisco, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This is a 100% onsite, laboratory-based role. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline, with strong hands-on laboratory experience supporting complex cell-based assay development in an industry environment. This individual will develop and execute cell-based high-content imaging assays to support the small molecule drug discovery pipeline. This role is best suited for candidates who enjoy hands-on laboratory work and technical assay development.
Responsibilities: - Maintain mammalian cell lines and support routine cell culture operations
- Develop and optimize high-throughput cell-based assays for quantification of mRNA expression using qRT-PCR
- Develop and execute HTS complex cell biology assays utilizing high-content imaging and image analysis platforms
- Perform weekly compound testing to evaluate biological activity and pharmacological responses
- Analyze experimental data and communicate results clearly to project teams through presentations and written reports
Requirements: - Doctorate degree; OR Master's degree and 2 years of experience; OR Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field is preferred
- Strong background in cell biology, immunology, and molecular biology
- Hands-on expertise in cell culture techniques and cell-based bioassay development
- Experience with high throughput qRT-PCR assay for mRNA quantification
- Proficiency with immunofluorescent staining and High Content Imaging (HCI) analysis
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired skills: - Relevant postdoctoral experience
- Experience with lab automation and complex image analysis
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization platforms such as Genedata Screener, TIBCO Spotfire, and GraphPad Prism
Pay range: up to $42.16 per hour
