The Quality Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated and manual testing strategies to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise applications and API-driven systems. This role requires hands-on experience in API testing, test automation, SQL validation, and quality assurance, using tools such as SoapUI, Bruno, Eclipse, and Toad. The ideal candidate has experience validating backend services, testing system integrations, analyzing database results, and collaborating with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform REST and SOAP API testing using tools such as SoapUI or Bruno, validating request and response payloads, status codes, headers, authentication, and error handling
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and defect detection
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing across complex enterprise applications
  • Validate API responses, data integrity, business logic, and system behavior across interconnected services
  • Perform backend database testing and data validation using SQL queries and Toad, verifying stored procedures, data transformations, and transaction results
  • Utilize Eclipse to support test automation development, code debugging, and testing activities within enterprise application environments
  • Identify, document, track, and troubleshoot defects, working closely with Software Engineers, Business Analysts, and other QA team members
  • Analyze test results, investigate failures, and perform root cause analysis to distinguish application defects from environment or data issues
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test data, automation scripts, and test execution documentation
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and software release validation
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and defect triage
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define acceptance criteria, assess test coverage, and ensure application readiness for production
  • Support test environment setup, configuration, test data management, and release validation activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, automation coverage, and overall software quality

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Hands-on experience in Quality Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, or Software Testing within enterprise application environments
  • Strong experience with API testing and validation using SoapUI or Bruno
  • Experience testing REST or SOAP APIs, including request and response validation, authentication, payload verification, and negative testing
  • Experience developing or maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Experience using Eclipse for test automation development, debugging, or application testing
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Toad for database testing, data validation, and backend verification
  • Experience with functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing methodologies
  • Ability to analyze test results, troubleshoot technical issues, and document defects with clear reproduction steps
  • Experience working with defect tracking, test management, and Agile development processes
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams

Desired skills:
  • Experience with Java or Python for test automation and API validation
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or pytest
  • Experience integrating automated tests with Jenkins or Git-based CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server or MySQL
  • Familiarity with Git or Bitbucket or GitHub for source code management and collaboration
  • Experience testing microservices, event-driven architectures, and enterprise application integrations
  • Experience with performance or load testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner
  • Experience working in banking, payments, financial services, or other regulated enterprise environments
