Job Description: Client-Side Workday PMO & Solution Architect
Summary: We require a highly skilled Workday PMO & Solution Architect to act as a critical client-side advocate CLIENT for our ongoing Workday implementation. The project is currently experiencing delays in both timeline and deliverables, and we need a leader who can overcome methodology gaps where the standard "Workday Way" is acting as a shield, preventing the resolution of actual project gaps. This role is essential to assess the true health of the project, move beyond high-level theory, and lead the project in the right direction to ensure our business requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactive Problem Identification & Resolution (Leading to the Right Way):
- Root Cause Analysis, Visualization & Corrective Action:
o Go beyond surface-level assessments to identify and visualize the root causes of delays in timelines and deliverables.
o Make complex project issues transparent and easy to understand for all stakeholders
o Proactively propose recovery plans to get the project back on track.
o Proactively formulate and present improvement plans to resolve critical issues and fix dysfunctional project management processes without needing manager supervision
- Stakeholder Engagement, Information Gathering & Solution Coordination:
- Active Dialogue & Information Gathering
o Actively engage in dialogue with various stakeholders across Vendor, HR, IT, and management to gather critical background information and deeply understand Client 's specific requirements and problems to make solutions.
- Material Creation & Alignment:
o Create clear, actionable meeting materials and documentation to facilitate constructive discussions. Lead the coordination and adjustment of solution proposals, effectively bridging the gaps between Project Management (PM), Business/Solution needs, and Workday Technical execution.
- Deep Dive Execution &CLIENT Advocacy:
o Act strictly as the client's advocate ("Client Hat"). Move beyond high-level theory to deeply dive into Client 's specific requirements, problems, and actively bridge the gap between PM, Business/Solution, and Workday Tech to implement viable solutions.
- Technical & Architectural Guidance:
o Directly oversee the quality of the Workday configuration, provide hands-on technical guidance to resolve existing configuration blockers, and ensure complex business objectives are accurately translated into the system.
- Actionable Client-Side Inspection & Deliverable Assurance:
o Review all vendor deliverables strictly from the Client's perspective.
o Do not merely report defects; track and manage defect resolution, holding the vendor accountable and ensuring the effectiveness of fixes through to complete closure.
- Realistic Milestone Management (Reality Check):
o Conduct a rigorous reality check on whether delivery dates are truly achievable given constraints. If unachievable, formulate, propose, and drive a realistic, revised project plan without waiting for manager supervision.
Required Qualifications:
o Extensive experience in managing or advising on Workday implementations for large-scale companies (5000+ employees).
o Proven track record of handling complex global requirements, specifically involving payroll in multiple countries/statuses and Expatriates (Expats) management.
- Knowledge & Technical Skills:
o Strong foundational knowledge across three key pillars: Project Management (PM), Business/Solution architecture, and Workday Technology.
o Deep understanding of Workday HCM and Payroll to effectively evaluate vendor configurations and technical proposals.
- Problem Solving & Soft Skills:
o Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to find proactive solutions, resolve critical issues, and improve dysfunctional project management processes.
o Ability to identify problems and suggest concrete ideas proactively without the need for manager supervision or micro-management.
o Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable plans and communicate effectively across technical teams and management stakeholders.
