Position Overview
Odyssey Information Services is seeking a C++ / Qt Software Engineer for a client developing highly specialized, secure telecommunications technology.
This is an application-level software development position focused heavily on C++, Qt and Linux. This is not an embedded systems or firmware development role.
The position is onsite five days per week in Richardson, TX and is expected to convert to full-time employment after the initial contract period.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance and maintain application-level software using C++ and Qt
- Develop and maintain graphical user interfaces and supporting application functionality
- Develop software within a Linux environment
- Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex application issues
- Participate in software design, code reviews, testing and integration
- Develop reliable, maintainable and scalable object-oriented software
- Collaborate with other software engineers and technical teams throughout the development lifecycle
Required Qualifications
- 2–7 years of professional software development experience
- Strong hands-on C++ application development experience
- Professional development experience with the Qt framework
- Experience developing applications in a Linux/Unix environment
- Strong object-oriented design and programming skills
- Experience with multithreaded application development
- Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities
- U.S. citizenship required due to federal/customer requirements
- Ability to work onsite five days per week in Richardson, TX
No active security clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Telecommunications, networking or secure communications software experience
- TCP/IP and networking knowledge
- Experience with Boost or other commonly used C++ libraries
- Experience within defense, aerospace, government contracting or similarly regulated technical environments
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline
Compensation & Employment
This position will begin as a 6-month W2 contract with the intention of converting to full-time employment.
