Role Overview
A position is available for a Field Electrical Engineer to provide dedicated on-site electrical construction support for a large compressor station project. This role focuses on execution-phase support, interface management, and ensuring electrical system readiness. This is a field-execution and integration role that requires construction experience and the ability to resolve electrical issues in a construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the owner's on-site electrical representative, supporting the Construction Manager, inspectors, and project team.
- Provide daily field oversight to ensure electrical installation activities align with IFC drawings, approved schematics, vendor documentation, and project electrical standards.
- Verify electrical installations in the field, including routing, clearances, access, grounding, and equipment placement.
- Serve as the primary on-site focal point for electrical RFIs, field questions, and technical clarifications, ensuring adherence to the formal RFI process.
- Support field installation and integration of EMD-related electrical scope, including cable tray routing, terminations, and interface coordination.
- Provide field support for temporary or interim on-site power generation systems, including installation, tie-in, and integration.
- Maintain a working, field-applicable knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and verify compliance for all electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate electrical redlines/as-builts, support the development of turnover documentation, and assist with compiling records for commissioning.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required, along with hands-on electrical construction experience. Candidates must have strong electrical construction support experience in industrial or energy facilities, with demonstrated experience supporting EMD or large rotating equipment installations. This role also requires experience with on-site power generation, a working knowledge of the NEC, and the ability to manage RFIs, redlines, and turnover documentation. The position necessitates working full-time on a construction site and communicating effectively with contractors and project leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience on compressor station or similar large industrial infrastructure projects.
- Experience with power systems interfaces involving generators, switchgear, MCCs, and protection systems.
- Experience supporting late-stage design changes and accelerated construction schedules.
- Prior experience acting as an owner's field representative.
