Mindbank Consulting Group has an immediate need for a mid-level Java Developer in Denver, Colorado, to support the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical web applications in a federal environment. Salary range is up to $115,000 and Mindbank offers comprehensive benefits. This is an interesting, long-term contract supporting federal law enforcement and the environment.
Please note this position is currently remote; however, incumbent must reside within commuting distance to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal area – no exceptions will be made, and relocation assistance is not provided.

This role involves full lifecycle development using Java (8+), Spring Boot, Spring Framework, SQL Server, JPA/Hibernate, and modern web technologies to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions.
The developer will work closely with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and ensure successful delivery. This position requires strong collaboration skills, the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts, and a focus on building applications that meet security, accessibility (Section 508), and performance standards.
Ideal candidates bring experience with cloud-based environments, automated testing, and secure application development, along with a proactive, team-oriented mindset. Exposure to AI developer tools is desired. Federal government experience is always a plus!
Software Developer (Mid) Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction for the development of a major web application using modern Java web technologies.
- Work with project and user management to define requirements, estimate time and costs, and prioritize features.
- Mentor and assist other team members as required.
- Provide technical expertise and contribute to all aspects of the design, development, testing, and support of Java web applications.
Java Developer Qualifications: You must meet these qualifications in order to be considered for this role. Please ensure your resume includes technical details about your experience.
- or US Permanent Resident with a current Public Trust or ability to obtain one via a government background investigation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar degree with relevant technical experience.
- 3 - 5 years of paid, professional experience developing applications using Java 8 or higher.
- Knowledge of Java and web technologies including Spring framework, Spring Boot, Spring Web, SQL database design and development, JPA and/or Hibernate, web services, HTML, and JavaScript. Familiarity with ColdFusion is very handy in this role but not required.
- Experience with automated testing and web application deployment.
- Experience with user-focused design and mobile-friendly web applications.
- Experience developing websites that meet Section 508 (persons with disabilities) standards.
- Experience implementing security and privacy best practices for web applications.
- Experience with Federal Information System Security standards is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience in developing and deploying applications in a Cloud-based environment.
- Knowledge or experience with AI developer tools is a plus.
