Senior Embedded Software Engineer (C++ / C#)
Location: North Reading, MA (Onsite )
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer with deep expertise in C++ and C#, embedded systems, and low-level software development. This role involves designing, developing, debugging, and optimizing highperformance software running on embedded processors and microcontrollers. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable, and productionready solutions.
This is a handson technical role suited for an engineer who enjoys working across the full software stack from kernel and drivers to multithreaded application layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement highperformance, objectoriented software solutions using C++ and C#.
- Develop and maintain embedded software for microcontrollers and embedded processors.
- Debug and troubleshoot systemlevel and boardlevel issues using software toolchains and hardware debugging tools.
- Collaborate closely with hardware and firmware engineers to bring up new boards and platforms.
- Design and debug multithreaded and concurrent applications with strong attention to performance and reliability.
- Develop software that runs on both Linux and Windows environments.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical problemsolving sessions.
- Use Git for source control, following best practices for branching, merging, and versioning.
- Ensure software quality through debugging, analysis, and performance optimization.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with significant time spent in embedded systems.
- Strong handson experience designing and implementing C++ and C# objectoriented software.
- Proven experience developing software for embedded systems, including microcontrollers and embedded processors.
- Experience debugging systemlevel and boardlevel software issues.
- Solid understanding of multithreading, synchronization, and concurrency.
- Experience developing software on both Linux and Windows platforms.
- Proficiency with Visual Studio 2015 or later (or equivalent IDEs).
- Strong experience using Git or similar source control systems.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problemsolving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in crossfunctional teams.
Preferred / NicetoHave Skills
- Experience modifying and maintaining:
- Linux kernel
- Root file systems
- UBoot
- Device drivers
- Crosscompilation toolchains
- Handson familiarity with lowlevel and hardwareadjacent technologies, including:
- SPI and I2C buses
- Asynchronous and synchronous serial interfaces
- PID control systems
- Fixedpoint math
- DDR and memory subsystems
- FPGA buses and interfaces
- Experience working with Intel and ARM architectures.
- Familiarity with static and dynamic code analysis tools such as Valgrind and Coverity.
- Experience in performance optimization and memoryconstrained environments.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range Minimum: $ 115000 per year
Pay Range Maximum: $ 176000 per year

A candidate s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
