Job Title: Lab IT Support Engineer / Laboratory IT Specialist
Location: Livonia, MI (Onsite)

Job Summary:
The Lab IT Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting laboratory IT infrastructure, test equipment, software applications, databases, and network services. The role ensures reliable operation of lab systems, minimizes downtime, and provides technical support for engineers, researchers, and lab personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
Computer & Test Equipment Support
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of laboratory computers.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and Software interface issues.
Coordinate with vendors for repairs, replacements, and technical support.
Software & License Management
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain software applications.
Manage software licensing and compliance requirements.
Support operating system patches, updates, and security fixes.
Validate software functionality following upgrades.
Hardware Maintenance & Upgrades
Troubleshoot workstation, server, peripheral, and test equipment interface issues.
Perform hardware upgrades and component replacements for the desktop.
Maintain hardware inventory and lifecycle records.
Database Support
Support laboratory databases and data management systems.
Assist users with database access, backup, and restoration activities.
Coordinate with database administrators for complex issues.
Network & Access Management
Troubleshoot network connectivity and communication problems.
Manage user permissions and access control.
Support LAN/WAN connectivity for laboratory systems.
Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to resolve network incidents.
Security & Application listing
Manage application listing requests.
Ensure compliance with organizational cybersecurity policies.
Validate software before deployment in laboratory environments.
Windows Systems Administration
Implement Windows operating system upgrades and patches.
Maintain system security and performance.
Support migration and upgrade projects.
Imaging, Backup & Recovery
Create and maintain workstation images.
Perform system backups and restoration activities.
Support disaster recovery and system recovery processes.
Required Skills

PC Hardware Troubleshooting
Network Troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related field.
2-6 years of IT support experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, or enterprise environment.
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL are desirable.
